Sustainable Building Codes

There are a range of potential zero / low carbon building codes in existence.

The commonly well known one in the UK is The Code for Sustainable Homes[1], however all the legislation in Wales states that buildings will need to comply to CSH (BREEAM) or equivalent. So this opens the door to several others that are less well known, including

Passiv Haus[2]

AECB CarbonLite Standards[3]

Bio-Solar Haus[4]. Note that this website is in German. For more details contact the Eco Home Centre in Cardiff.

Community groups will need to look at the BREEAM standards[5] for their new build, however be aware that the Passiv Haus and Bio Solar Haus principles can be applied to non-domestic buildings.
