Mould

Mould is linked to damp more often than not, since mould requires a certain moisture content to thrive.

Mould can be limited by keeping the walls warmer. This can be achieved by good insulation or if space is an issue by using paint based solutions.

Top Tips

Once mould has been removed and treated (Auro Anti-mould system is a tried and tested natural option) then you could do one of the following:

Paint with an insulating paint to keep the wall warmer

Paint using Auro Anti-mould paint. This is more alkaline and so mould finds it more difficult to grow on it.

Experience

I have used Thermilate (with natural earthBorn emulsion) on a solid north facing walls where we had damp and since then (2 years later) the mould has not re-appeared.

I have also used Auro Mould Stop and Mould Eliminator (sprays) and they have stopped mould. They are not good enough to tackle persistent black mould in areas like showers, but walls etc are fine.
