Natural paint making

Flyer for Natural painting

We offer courses for Key stage 1 and 2 students based on making paints from natural kitchen ingredients such as milk and cheese, combined with natural mineral pigments to create a healthy and ecological paint that can be used for art projects and even to decorate walls in the school.

Children will be able to make a simple product from natural raw materials. They will be able to identify the natural source of all the materials and locate a source locally. The product will be biodegradable and provide no health risks to themselves or the environment.

Ideally the paint-making could take place in a classroom or outdoor classroom setting. All materials are provided, water for washing and aprons should be provided by the school.

Energy Efficiency in Schools Flyer for ESDGC Energy Efficiency

This is a workshop based series of sessions where we provide a set of fun games and activities for young people to learn about energy efficiency in building structures. This includes looking at areas like insulation, solar gain, energy production through renewables etc. The young people also carry out a survey of their classroom and then this data is analysed using an industry standard energy calculation package (SBEM) by us. Once this has been done we bring back the report to the kids to show them how energy efficient their classroom is and what could be done to structurally improve this.

This level of data is then real and applicable to the kids and to the school. The lessons learnt can also be applied in the home, so we hope to get the message back to the parents about insulating the home well, managing airtightness (draughts) etc and hence helping people to undertand their build environment and make informed choices.

A flyer has been produced for this service. Energy efficiency flyer.

This service has been well recieved at schools, including:

Rogiet School, Monmouthshire

Brynglas Primary, Newport

Willowbrook School, Cardiff

Cefn Forest, Blackwood
