Advice on energy and water conservation in your school building.

We are happy to work with schools to provide advice on improving the efficiency of the building through improving energy and water conservation. We can also help design a learning experience around the changes made to the building and how it is used. Improvements can be monitored and recorded by pupils, the results can be used in many curriculum based projects, and to educate the wider community.

This project ties in very well with Eco-schools and can help your school to gain higher accreditation levels through the Eco-schools scheme.

A healthy school

A clear relationship exists between health and educational attainment. Poor health deters educational success and educational achievement strongly affects social and economic prospects, and choices about health.

By attending to the health of the whole school environment schools can aspire to an advanced healthy school status. Combining a healthy safe school environment with nutrition, mental health and physical exercise.

Asthma and allergic diseases are very common among British children: and government recognises that "sub-standard housing" is a contributory factor in poor health and a source of health inequalities. By providing a clean safe healthy environment schools can help counteract the negative effects suffered by children living in poor housing conditions.

As part of your Healthy School agenda it is appropriate to look at the types of paints and finishes being used within the school environment. Conventional paints give off VOCs and these in turn produce low level ozone and this can aggravate conditions like asthma and eczema, however using natural non VOC paints and finishes is a simple solution to this. Rounded Developments supplies a range of non-toxic and ecological paints and finishes suitable for interior and exterior spaces. RDE can deliver classes based around paints and finishes including making your own paint. This allows pupils to learn about pollutants, the wider environment, their health and also covers a range of curriculum topics like maths, chemistry, languages, geography and history.
