cardiff street sceneHere you will learn about the best way of making these old solid walled houses fit for the 21st century. The course will cover: the necessary background info on the history of the buildings, what they are built from and how they were originally designed; through the changes and materials that have been used in the past to 'improve them', and then onto the practical information you will need to them more airtight, energy and water efficient, damp proof, healthy and finally how they can generate their own energy.

By the look of the feedback from the June and October courses we have put together a very good series of evenings for you.

Cost will be £ 70 for the five evenings.

Please contact Peter on training@rounded-developments.org.uk to reserve your place as we are restricted on numbers who can attend.

Course content is:

EVENING 1 – Introduction to refurbishment (Terminology, concepts and principles)

EVENING 2 – Introduction to South Wales' Victorian terrace housing and sustainable refurbishment (History of construction types, forms, local materials and making work more sustainable)

EVENINGS 3 & 4 – Making your house fit for the 21st century based on your projects (looking at individual elements of the house and identifying common problems, their causes and how to resolve them)

EVENING 5 – Topping up resources with renewable energy (the icing on the cake, once refurbished to a high a standard as possible this will then address the ways of using renewable technologies in your project)
