RDE / Eco Home Centre can advise on sustainable building options that are available for individual home-owners. The service that we offer is tailor made for you and will assist you with sustainable building concepts and how to realise them. This advice is based on broad thematics rather than specifics. For example we can advise on types of fuels and the implications of their use, but we will not calculate an individually tailored cost / benefit analysis for the property.

Each building is different and so require different solutions. So a home visit is essential for you to have the individual information that you require for making decisions on building projects like 'green' extensions and conversions.

The fees charged for a visit, consultation and final report are normally £ 200 plus VAT, but as an introductory offer to the residents of Cardiff we shall be providing this service for £ 150 plus VAT.

RDE also offers the Passiv Haus Planning Package to homeowners looking to develop their own homes. It is essential that this is done at the start of the project rather than a bolt on otherwise you will not normally obtain the correct features to get your project close to, or down to Zero-Carbon. This is a much more involved process and is not the full blown official PHPP that is required for formal registration - this is available elsewhere (for a much higher fee). We use the same software, and provide you with the same figures, but we are not fully qualified to give accreditation, hence our fees are much lower. Call for a quote.
